Manushi Patel is an aspiring architect, currently studying in the M.S.Arch program at New Jersey Institute of Technology and is anticipated to graduate in May 2023. Before joining the Masters program, she worked at Lehman Smith McLeish in Washington, DC, and was promoted to Architect II in 1 year for managing multiple projects and working on client presentations, construction document sets and construction administration for the interior architecture firm. Prior to working, she had completed B.Arch from the Stuckeman School of Architecture at Pennsylvania State University in May of 2021. In September 2019 she was a member of the winning team at Piranesi Prix De Rome group design competition and was awarded a graduate scholarship. In May 2019, she was a recipient of the Mark Kates Memorial Scholarship to aid her with study abroad funding.

Manushi Patel served as an architecture intern at KSD Architects in Summer 2019 and 2020. The firm specializes in commercial design sector with projects ranging from offices to industrial buildings. She worked under interior designers and architects to help in drafting plans, elevations, and wall details in construction drawings. In addition, she made 3D computer models to produce renderings for planning board review. Her time as an intern helped her to gain experience in a real world setting.

Manushi Patel has designed a wide variety of projects during her school years. Her recent designs include community garden, and center imagined in Homewood, Pittsburgh in which she worked to achieve passive house standards and sustainable features. Another project that she designed was a natatorium imagined at Penn State which was very well received by the jurors in the final reviews. She has participated in numerous design competitions at Penn State including Hajjar Competition to design a house, Corbelletti Competition and NCMA competition to design a museum. The design studio project in Rome, during her study abroad, proposed an urban project with a site in the heart of the city which challenged her to work in a new environment.

Along with different designs, Manushi Patel has continued to develop skills in 3D design softwares such as Rhino, Revit, and Lumion. Her experience at KSD Architects helped her learn AutoCAD in which she is now proficient. She has achieved professional level of experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, and Indesign. She continues to challenge herself and learn new skills as she progresses to her final year.

Manushi Patel recently travelled to Rome in Fall 2019 as part of a study abroad program which helped her gain a deeper understanding of architecture and its history. Walking around the city with Allan Ceen, a well known historian and cartographer, was an educational experience from which she has learned about how the city has changed and evolved since it was found. She took an Italian language class to learn about the culture as well as make her experience there more authentic.
